Argentina: Day 2

After a long, interesting night in the hotel we took the morning to sleep. In the afternoon we headed out into the city for lunch and a little shopping. It was this day where we found the Plaza De Mayo and saw the government buildings. On our way back to the hotel in the late afternoon, we got lost and were pointed in the direction of the wrong Sheraton hotel. A little lost exploring led us to the Obelisk (a famous landmark in the city) and were finally able to hail a cab and find out way back to the hotel using our maturing Spanish skills.

We spent the night in the hotel again calling home and drinking wine. However, Lauren accidentally bought a bottle of wine with a cork instead of the screw off tops we had been drinking the night before. We spent an hour trying to dig out the cork with a tweezers, complimentary lotion and shampoo bottles, and bottles of water. Puncture holes in all the bottles and not accomplishing much of anything we decided to call home to my mom who was helpful in supplying us with a different strategy. After another 20 minutes and two broken tweezers, we succeeded in pounding the cork into the bottle and were rewarded with possibly the worst bottle of wine we had ever tasted (in reality it wasn’t that bad, but was not a good reward after all the work we put into it). However, you better believe that bottle of wine was not wasted after all the work we put into it.
