Rio de Janeiro: Day 2

We headed out to the cruise terminal early where we found a tour group willing to take us around to Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Copacabana, and Ipanema. We also received a city tour while driving to each location.

Getting to Christ the Redeemer, we drove up part of the way and then had to climb in another shuttle bus to take us the rest of the way up. The views from the top were incredible and the fresh air was invigorating. However, the winds were quite strong leaving us with knotted hair and wind burn on top of our sunburns.

Next, we headed to take a driving tour of Copacabana and Ipanema. We then headed to a small souvenir shop in a hidden place in the middle of the city. We stopped for lunch next at an all you can eat buffet with traditional Brazilian food as well as sushi, Chinese food, American fried foods, and much more.

Next we headed back across the city of Sugar Loaf Mountain where we spent the rest of our afternoon. We took two cable cars to get to the very top where we saw the best views. Seen from the second layer were army ships, submarines, the yacht club, the bay, and much more.

After an incredible but exhausting day sight-seeing in the city, we made our way back to the ship where we spent the rest of the day relaxing and treating our sunburned skin.
