Uruguay: Day 2

We got off the ship and headed 150km outside the city to La Estancia de San Pedro de Timote. Driving on a worn out highway we saw far more sheep, cattle, and horses than we did other cars, people, and houses. On our arrival, we checked into our rooms and headed down to the pool before lunch.

At lunch we sat down to a 4 course meal including soup, a tomato stuffed with tuna and rice, a beef steak, and a brownie and ice cream for dessert. After lunch we wondered around the estate taking pictures and enjoying the magnificent views all around.

At around 4pm we headed out for our first ride through the countryside. We approached herds of sheep and cattle and other beautiful horses. After our ride, we headed back for snack and again wandered the estate. We then watched the most incredible sunset and sat around engaging in conversation before dinner was served at 9pm (they eat extremely late here).

For dinner we were treated to loads of meat cooked directly over the fire for hours.

After dinner we settled into the library where we looked at books explaining the history of the estate (in Spanish, of course) and then headed off to bed.
