England

London: Day 1

After an early morning breakfast with the girls, we hailed a cab and headed to the train station. Arriving a little too early, we set out to explore Southampton. We spent about a half hour in the mall carrying our extra large backpacks and then headed back to the train station.

After a 2 ½ hour train ride, we arrived in London at Waterloo station. We headed to the tourist office where we purchased our underground rail passes and headed to the subway to find our way to the hostel. Finally we made it to Camden, checked into our hostel, and headed back into the city. Here we explored the waterfront area, Buckingham Palace, Big Pen, Parliament, and saw many beautiful cathedrals.

We then headed to a local park to relax by Buckingham Palace where we met Jenna’s friends from England, Nikki and Amy. Brit, Jenna, and I then headed over to the London eye. After our ride high above the city, we headed back to the hostel, bought some cider, and got ready to head out.

It was cheapskates night at Moonlighting, a club in Sohoe, so we headed there. After a long, very interesting night we headed back to the hostel for a good night sleep.

London: Day 2

We woke relatively early to check out of our hostel and move onto the next in King’s Cross. We spent the day exploring small markets all over London. Then we headed to Leicester Square to look for theatre tickets for Jenna, Brit, and I.

From here Brit and I headed back to the hostel to get ready and we met Jenna, Nikki, and Amy near Victoria where Wicked was playing. Seeing this musical was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. It was definitely an experience I will never forget….I got to go see a Broadway musical in London, England!!!

After the 3 hour show, we headed back to our hostel to pick up Dacotah and we went down to Piccadilly Circus. While slightly disappointed in the area, we headed back to the hostel and called it an early night.

London and Southampton: Day 3

On this day, we awoke in our hostel and headed down to Trafalgar Square and enjoyed the festivities occurring due to the Paralympics. We relaxed by a fountain and listened to live music. After an hour or so of being there we headed back to our hostel to pick up our bags and headed to the train station for our train ride back to Southampton.

That night, we decided to head out in Southampton in search of WiFi. We spent the evening sitting outside a pub drinking coffee and mochas uploading pictures and updating our blogs and talking to family while everyone around us was drinking.

We did meet some very nice English men during our time at the pub and even met a guy from Nevada on the underground rail.
