Ireland: Day 2

Midday September 1st found us on a bus to Cork. I sat next to an New Zealand/Irish gentleman named Tamar who was by far the nicest person I have met on this trip. We joked about the hostel I stayed in the night before and spoke about things to do in and around Cork. We also talked about his wife and newborn child. He was headed home from work after spending the last few days managing a night club in the city.

Once arriving in Cork, we were greeted with a hostel of far more elegance than the previous. While no 5 star hotel, I was not given the feeling that I was sleeping in a dumpster.

We headed to the local bus station from the hostel in order to catch a bus to Blarney. A brief drive left us in a small town with a short walk to the Blarney Castle. Here we explored our touristy side and took far too many pictures. We headed to the top of Blarney Castle where we took pictures with the Blarney Stone…although we did not actually kiss it (after hearing some fun stories about the locals)…just took the fun upside-down tourist photo.

From here we headed back into Cork where we ate dinner (at supposedly the best chicken place in Ireland...more like a fast food spot) and made our way back to the hostel for some relaxation and pub time. And with a bar downstairs in our hostel we did not have to go far for a drink. Brit and I decided to try the infamous Guinness that everyone speaks of in Ireland. After meeting some nice girls from Germany and finishing our drinks we decided to call it a night. I headed upstairs and passed out in our private room after a very long day!
